The Houston Saengerbund 1703 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX, United StatesA joyous concert featuring a quartet of singers and instrumental ensemble performing early carols and sacred music from the British Isles.
Founded in 1883, The Houston Saengerbund is the oldest musical Society in the city. From its earliest days, the mission of the Society has to been to encourage the singing of German Lieder, and sharing the contributions of German music, language, and culture throughout the region and throughout Texas.
Today, the Society celebrates its storied past and honors those Members whose efforts and foresight have left us a legacy upon which to plan for the next hundred years of service. We do so by engaging in community outreach through our musical performances, by honoring our German heritage, by encouraging the use of the German language, and by providing fellowship opportunities for our Members.
Anyone who has an interest in German culture and its imprint on our community is welcome to come and visit, and perhaps to join one of the best kept secrets in the city of Houston.
