Join HCCC and fiber artist Molly Koehn to explore the art of visible mending! Learn simple stitching techniques using contrasting yarn, scrap fabric, and stitching motifs to breathe new life into even the dullest items. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to practice darning and patching and learn basic repairs, such as adding buttons. Darning prolongs the lifespan of garments and promotes responsible consumption by discouraging throwaway culture. By repairing clothes instead of discarding them at the first sign of wear and tear, we can reduce textile waste and minimize our carbon footprint. So, before you toss out that beloved sweater over a hole or missing button, bring it back to life in this repair workshop!
Please note Each participant can bring up to three clothing items in need of repair. If your items don’t require the specific techniques taught, you can practice on scrap fabrics instead. The workshop will be held in person inside the HCCC building with limited space for a maximum of 15 participants.
