Join Duo Dramatique (Dominika Dancewicz, violin & Andrew Schneider, piano) for a riveting evening of music and poetry.
The artists will share music and words by composers and writers who evocatively express their take on various forms of political oppression, be it war, poverty, or racial and social prejudice, or who bring forth a strong cultural identity in their works.
The Duo will perform music by:
Leoš Janaček
Serge Prokofiev
Erberk Eryilmaz
Dmitri Shostakovich
William Grant-Still
Max Richter
You will hear us talking about and reciting poems by:
Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński
Wilfred Owen
Dylan Thomas
Claude McKay
Paul Celan
Dunya Mikhail
Jericho Brown
The music and poetry will be accompanied by images chosen by us and projected on stage in Cullen Hall.
“This Stabbing Shard” project is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance “Let Creativity Happen” grant.
