Inspired by images broadcasted from the Mars Rover and James Webb Telescope, the life cycle of glaciers, geological forces and mineralogy, satellite and biological imagining, and the history of color field painting & process art, the paintings in the exhibition suggest portals through which to imagine and come to terms with the event horizon our environment and technologies stand on. Futurescapes proposes a fertile field for fantasizing about our future interactions with terrestrial, extraterrestrial, social, and digital landscapes—a “body without organs” vulnerable to decolonization and evolution—an open grid for interfacing with flux potentialities.
Futurescapes is accompanied by a reunion of collaborators in a group exhibition featuring David Janesko, Danny Kerschen, Tex Kerschen, Suzy Poling, Jon Read, William Sarradet, DOMOKOS / STARCHILDE 7, & Lisa B. Woods.
The exhibition will be on view November 10th through November 30, 2023. The opening reception, which will feature the artist in attendance, will take place on November 30th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Admission is free and open to the public. Additional artwork from the Visual Arts Alliance 39th Juried Membership Exhibition will be on view as well.
