There are many injustices in the world, and many times we feel helpless to do anything about them. But that desire to help, to take action, is key. This workshop will move you from passion to purpose to persuasive writing designed to move the needle. You can take action! You can write!
It only takes one spark to light a fire in others. And that spark, can be your writing! When we can tell compelling stories through our imagery, diction, rhetorical devices, and tone. We can literally change hearts and minds, thus changing the world. Using mentor texts from various historical periods and genres, we will see how others were that spark. Then we will plan how we can channel our passion for change in purposeful and persuasive ways. Confident, compelling, authentic writers create texts that can be used to further social and political change.
This event is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance. This project is generously funded by the Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, and Mid-America Arts Alliance.
