Join Asia Society Texas for an electric evening with jazz-funk bassist Richie Goods and vibraphonist, percussionist, and composer Chien Chien Lu as they perform selections from their collaborative jazz album Connected, which was named “Best Instrumental Album” in the 34th Golden Melody Awards!
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Goods and Lu’s conversations about the Black Lives Matter movement and anti-Asian violence inspired them to collaborate on a project to unify people and invoke imagery of love and peace, resulting in the musical arrangements The Path (September 2020), We Three Kings (November 2020), and Rain (December 2021). Cementing their musical partnership, the pair released the album Connected in January 2023.
In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, a festive holiday in Taiwan and many other countries in East and Southeast Asia, join us as Goods and Lu present an exciting, energetic listening experience.
“Rarely does an album come about that defines an era but Connected is one such album. As Billie Holiday gave us Strange Fruit and Gil Scott Heron gave us Small Talk at 125th & Lenox, Richie Goods and Chien Chien’s Connected is a musical historical landmark for our time.” — Andromeda Turre, Sirius XM Real Jazz Host
