Aurora presents a special screening of short films by Colectivo Los Ingrávidos, an evolving group of film/video artists based in Tehuacán, Mexico. Founded in 2012, this anonymous collective disrupts corporate cultural syntax with radical combinations of traditional mythology, popular culture, natural landscapes, protest documents, and rhythmic abstraction. Keenly concerned with unjust suppression and violence–especially incidents of femicide in rural Mexico, the collective’s layered audiovisual poetry is meant to act as communally experienced trance, opening new modes of perceiving the present. This free screening will take place at The Storyhive, and will be followed by a casual reception.
