At one time or another, we are all likely to experience conflicting or contradictory feelings about something or someone important to us. Sometimes this can be an extremely difficult experience, stirring feelings of anxiety, and a sense of confusion and distraction. In this lecture, we will delve into perceptions of the ambivalent experience based on insights gathered from more than 100 in-depth interviews and dialogues. Drawing upon these personal narratives, we will discuss how individuals navigate the conflicting emotions brought by ambivalence, how the experience can lead us to develop wisdom and faith, and how transformation often awaits on the other side of difficulty.
