Human Resource: Corporeal Experiences in Professional – Film Premiere

January 24

Human Resource is a 25 minute movement piece that discusses the idea of ethics, emotional regression and gender stereotyping through the scene of a corporate American office job fixated on professionalism. Five feminine persons begin the performance with a jarring phone call from a loved one, a partner or stranger that abruptly changes the atmosphere of their day. Instead of maintaining detachment from their emotions to continue a positive work environment, the five individuals go through a series of emotional disruptions in a public display of contemporary dance. Human Resource is meant to challenge the viewers idea of what is acceptable public displays of emotion, femininity as self expression as well as survival and the ethics in art.

This film featuring the second generation of Aufheben movement artists include, Ariaza Ariaza, Lindsay Cortnar, Gabrielle De La Rosa and artistic director Isabella Mireles Vik. Cinematographer Derek Rathbun captures the piece from a voyeuristic perspective enticing the viewer to witness the physical theater performed and draw connections to the viewers own experiences. The film will is free to view and is available for 30 days and will be shown on Vimeo. A link will be shared through the @auf.he.ben instagram page and isabellavik.com

Human Resource is proudly funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
