El Baile de Loteria

The Pilot Dance Project presents a series of new dances inspired by Mexican American culture with El Baile de Loteria, choreographed by celebrated Houston-based choreographer Cynthia Garcia! Based on characters from the beloved Mexican board game, loteria, these new dancers were created on the dancers of The Pilot Dance Project, including Adam Castaneda, Jade Devault, Jaime Garcia, Cloe Leppard, and Mia Pham as the portray La Maceta, La Rosa, El Melon, La Pera, and La Sandia. This project is the recipient of a City’s Initiative Grant from the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance to place these dances at community events throughout the fall. The set design for this trio of characters dances was made possible by community participants facilitated by Art in the Heart and Art Uniti. The Pilot Dance Project is honored to present these works at the M.D. Anderson Family YMCA’s Annual Christmas Posada event! This gathering is free and open to the public and includes, food, music, Christmas carols, raffle prizes, and more! Join us for a wonderful start to the end-of-the-year holiday season!
