As part of the Community Music Center of Houston’s (CMCH) community-led initiative program, multimedia artist Charles Washington has undertaken an innovative examination into the intersection of musical instruments as both objects of visual art and vehicles for creative sonic expression.
Leading a group of musicians, Mr. Washington’s artistic vision has resulted in a project called ‘Color of Sound.’ This interdisciplinary endeavor delves into the connections between the auditory and visual arts, highlighting their inherent flexibility within an original artistic framework.
‘Color of Sound’ will showcase Mr. Washington’s sculptures created from repurposed musical instruments, alongside an avant-garde musical performance by a group of talented musicians, standing as tangible outcomes of the rich exchange of ideas and inspiration between visual artist and musicians.
