31st Festival of Films From Iran Screening: ‘Winners’

The film ‘Winners’ follows nine-year-old Yahya (Parsa Maghami) who works hard alongside other children of his Iranian village to support their families. One day, Yahya and his friend Leyla (Helia Mohammad Khani) find in the desert an Oscar statue that has gone missing. While the authorities search for the lost treasure, Yahya’s boss, who shares his passion for cinema, decides to help the children find the statuette’s rightful owner. Featuring icons of Iranian cinema Hossein Abedini and Reza Naji and tributes to filmmakers Abbas Kiarostami, Asghar Farhadi, and Jafar Panahi, Winners is a crowd-pleasing, heartfelt love letter to film.
