MARGAM: The Path, featuring Vaibhav Arekar

Vaibhav Arekar, Founder and Artistic Director of Sankhya Dance Company, Mumbai, India, is one of the most respected and sought after male dancers in India today, His style is at once strong, vibrant, fluid, and beautiful. He had his training under the legendary dancer-scholar Dr. Kanak Rele of the Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya. Vaibhav is renowned for his creative and innovative choreography, his off-beat, unique themes ranging from the traditional to the contemporary, and the excellence of his dance company, whose every performer is near-perfect in the art. Recipient of many awards and accolades, Vaibhav has travelled the world performing and teaching. In Bharatanatyam, MARGAM is the physical as well as the spiritual journey that the dancer takes, from the first to the last dance, evolving with each, as it increases in intensity and complexity, showing both the artist’s mastery over technique and his complete involvement in the art form, till he becomes one with the dance.
