Collaging the Feminine (In Person)

October 12 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

$75 – $85

Imagine how we can allow our own femininity to show up and radically shape our modern world. For nearly a decade, the French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle grappled with the female form in an ever-evolving series of sculptures. Exploring social constructions – and constrictions – of the female body, these “Nana” sculptures developed from early expressions of repressed femininity into larger-than-life, ecstatic, and challenging representations of feminine power. Join us as we use the medium of collage to carry on the “Nana” series, and challenge the idea that women should not take up space. Through drawing a body and expressing ideas of body image, feminism, and femininity through collage, we’ll think critically about historical treatments of women, and imagine how we can allow our own femininity to show up and radically shape our modern world.
