The first Hispanic funeral home and one of the few remaining family-owned funeral homes in Houston, Morales resonates with the East Downtown community as one of the neighborhood’s most influential entities. State Representative Christina Morales has continued her grandmother, Angela V. Morales’ tradition of giving back to the predominantly Mexican-American residents of the East End by hosting events like the Giveaway and fundraising to support many local institutions. The Morales Memorial Foundation was created by Angela Morales in 1993 to empower, inspire and educate the Latino Community for future leadership. “The rapid change in East End is an opportunity for residents to benefit as well as contribute to the area and education is vital for this to happen” says Representative Morales.
