Spring Branch Community Health Center (“SBCHC”) is dedicated to creating opportunities for families to prioritize their health and have fun! This year, our Annual Walk for Wellness is organized in partnership with local youth sports organization SpringSpirit, and local community organizations. We are working closely with local partners to involve families with children of all ages. The Walk for Wellness will challenge participants to engage with local social service providers and healthcare providers. Local supporters will offer health tips and educational activities during the event.
We are asking all sponsors and participants to enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise by walking together. SBCHC aims to promote proper nutrition, exercise and the value of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The event will focus on providing fun, education, and activity for local families. The primary goal is to raise awareness and educate the public about how chronic health issues are avoidable through proper nutrition and regular exercise. Chronic disease disproportionately affects those in West Houston who lack the financial resources to access medical services. Fortunately, these illnesses are the most preventable of all health problems! We welcome any activities you can think of to encourage walkers to get healthy! Events like the Annual Walk for Wellness help participants access free health education information that can lead to healthy behavioral changes. Once gathered, we will take all of our walkers on a group walk to demonstrate that it is fun and easy to make small changes, especially when you start with a supportive group.
