How can we work with conflict, creatively, and initiate a productive, potentially life-changing dialogue?
Most people today avoid conflicts because they often quickly become painful and emotionally threatening. Addressing differences requires skills going beyond the parameters of ‘better communication’. Real Dialogue and Dialogue Therapy, developed by renowned Jungian analyst Polly Young-Eisendrath, respond to the need for truly meaningful and effective dialogue. Real Dialogue, a method for ‘difficult conversations’, increases emotional space, allowing participants to engage in transformative conflict. Dialogue Therapy, a unique short-term couple therapy, also draws on relational psychoanalysis, mindfulness, and techniques of psychodrama to resolve emotional entanglement and foster differentiation. This introduction will also include some real-life examples, showing how it is possible to work creatively with conflict to initiate a productive, potentially life-changing dialogue.
